Technology & IT Infrastructure Assessment
Gain unparalleled insight into the foundation of your firm.

Performing a Network Technology Audit is a proactive way to manage your firm’s computer systems.  An audit will provide invaluable insight into your IT infrastructure – which can be used to plan your future direction, improve security and performance, minimize risk, and create new efficiencies. At a minimum, you’ll receive key takeaways that result in immediate and measurable business value for your firm.

A Network Technology Audit from Accellis will give you a thorough review of all IT Infrastructure assets and security procedures, including:

  • Network Hardware & Equipment Analysis: We will monitor your Servers, PC’s, Switches, Routers, Printers and Phones. We will also collect Serial Numbers, Model Numbers, Warranty information, and Software Licenses. Additionally, we will evaluate the status of patches and updates, identify improper web usage (e.g. streaming music), and compile aggregate statistics including CPU, Memory, and Disk Space Utilization.
  • Security Evaluation: We will evaluate all hardware and software security assets, including definitions updates and scans. We are looking for uniformity, centralized control, and other key areas that improve security, minimize impact on the end-user, and lock down the environment, both internally and externally. For this portion of the Audit, Accellis will evaluate your Anti-virus software, Malware/Spyware, Spam Filter, Firewalls and Content Filtering systems.
  • Backup and Data Retention Policy Review: We will evaluate how backups are being handled and identify any applicable hardware, software, policies, or procedures that could improve data retention, data security, and cost-effectiveness. As part of the Backup and Data Retention Review, Accellis will review your backup tapes, schemes, and policies.

If your law firm works with banks or insurance companies, chances are, you have either already been hit with an audit or your about to be. Even if you feel that your firm has done a solid job of staying current with technology, you’re likely to be caught off guard by the sheer magnitude and overall expectations of such an audit.

Accellis will help evaluate your existing security practices against banking or insurance industry requirements.  We can prepare your firm for such an audit by reviewing where your existing infrastructure, identifying potential gaps in compliance, and making recommendations to improve security and minimize risk.

Best Practice & Malpractice Risk Assessment
Grow your firm and while safeguarding it from liability.

As technology and business practices evolve, so must your law firm. Law firms that embrace these changes, instead of avoid them, are better positioned towards growth and long-term stability.  Not a single law firm, however, is completely protected from the risk of malpractice. Even firms with the best of intentions can easily find themselves in the middle of a claim.

Accellis helps law firms grow their business while minimizing this risk. A management & malpractice risk assessment will give you invaluable insight into your firm’s practices and procedures which can be used to increase efficiencies and reduce your risk of a malpractice claim.

  • Accounting – Mismanagement of client funds is one of the leading reasons lawyers get in trouble. Proper tools and controls will greatly reduce your exposure and make time-consuming trust-audits much easier.
  • Client Onboarding – Every new client should go through a standard file opening procedure including conflict checks, retainer agreement, and an engagement agreement. To minimize the potential for trouble and create the right expectations in a new relationship, the client engagement and intake process should be handled with diplomacy, discipline, and forethought. Automation can play a pivotal role in streamlining the more repetitive tasks. Accellis can help you speed up this process and ensure critical steps aren’t missed.
  • Missed Deadlines – Believe it or not, calendaring errors account for a significant amount of missed appointments and malpractice claims. Automated workflows for, appointments and reminders can help everyone in your firm stay on top of deadlines and scheduling changes.
  • Communications – Attorney and client communication errors are the biggest cause of malpractice claims. Most claims, however, arise out of simple, fundamental errors, such as insufficient record-keeping and lack of communication. Accellis will evaluate your client relation efforts including phone calls, emails, invoicing, reporting, expectations, deliverables, and response times.
  • Documentation – Your best defense against a malpractice claim is maintaining accurate records throughout the development of a matter. Emails, time entries, phone calls, notes and letters are critical elements that, when managed appropriately, are a key to reducing your risk of malpractice.
  • Confidentiality – Accellis will review your procedures for handling client’s confidential information including employee procedures, online and remote network accessibility, security groups, and document sharing.
