Taking a Screenshot Using the Snipping Tool

There is a hidden tool in Microsoft that very few people know about, and can save you a ton of time throughout the day.

The Snipping Tool captures a screenshot of anything on your desktop, like a section of a webpage. You can snip a whole window, a rectangular section of your screen, or draw a freehand outline with your mouse or finger. From there, you can annotate, save, email, or paste the image directly in a document.

You’re going to want to pin this tool to your taskbar for quick access. To do this simply click on your Windows icon and type “snipping” into the search bar. Once you find the tool, either drag the icon onto your taskbar, or right-click and select “Pin to Start Taskbar.”

This tool is only available in the Home Premium, Professional, Ultimate, and Enterprise editions of Windows 7.
