Spotify hacked

Hundreds of Spotify Premium account details have been compromised by an unknown hacker. On February 15, email addresses, passwords, renewal dates and account types of Spotify users were posted online. Fortunately, credit card details were not disclosed. This is the second time the company has been hacked.

Spotify is a music streaming service with over 20 million subscribers and 75 million active users. Similar to other media sites like Netflix and Hulu, user accounts are sold on the dark web and passed between cyber criminals.

If you’re a Spotify subscriber, Accellis recommends changing your password immediately for this and any other sites using the same password. When creating new passwords, try this simple trick to make it easy to remember. And if you have trouble managing all of your different passwords, try switching to a tiered password system or use a password management system like LastPass.
